How does SplitterBot split a receipt?
Take a photo of your receipt or upload one. SplitterBot reads each line item, then you assign items to each person. Tax, tip, and fees are split proportionally based on each person's share of the subtotal.
How are tax, tip, and fees calculated?
Proportionally to what each person ordered. If your items make up 30% of the subtotal, you cover 30% of the tax, tip, and any fees. Discounts work the same way — they reduce each person's share based on how much they ordered.
Can I split items with different quantities?
Yes. For a line item with more than one unit (e.g., 3 beers), you can assign specific quantities to each person. The cost is split based on how many each person had — so if you had 2 of the 3 beers, you pay for 2.
What does the shared message include?
The restaurant name and date, a per-person itemized breakdown (with quantities), each person's share of tax/tip/fees, a total, and a one-tap payment link for anyone who set up a payment handle.
What payment apps are supported?
SplitterBot generates one-tap payment links for Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal with the amount pre-filled. Zelle is also supported, but it doesn't allow automatic links — you'll see the handle to send to manually.
How many receipts can I scan?
Free trial: 3 free receipts, no time limit. Monthly plan: 5 receipts per month. Annual plan: up to 1,000 receipts per year (effectively unlimited for most users). Pay-Per-Use: $0.99 per receipt, credits never expire and no subscription is required.
What happens when I hit my receipt limit?
You'll see a prompt explaining your current plan. You can buy a single receipt for $0.99, or upgrade to a monthly or annual plan to get a larger allowance. The monthly count for paid plans resets at the start of each calendar month; the free trial does not reset.
What if the scan misses items or gets the total wrong?
You can fix anything. After scanning, the edit screen lets you correct item names, prices, quantities, tax, tip, and the total. If the scan didn't work at all — or you'd rather skip it — you can also enter the receipt items manually.
Can I edit items after scanning?
Yes. You can rename items, adjust prices and quantities, add items the scanner missed, or remove extras before splitting.
How does the free trial work?
Each new account gets 3 free receipts to try the app. There's no time limit — use them whenever you want. Deleting a receipt or signing out won't refund a free slot. Once your 3 are used, you can buy a single receipt for $0.99 or subscribe to keep going.
Is my receipt data secure?
Yes. Receipt images are stored in a private, encrypted cloud bucket, and all data is encrypted in transit. Only you can access your receipts from your signed-in account.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile and tap "Delete Account". Your account is deleted and you're signed out right away. All associated data is removed from our systems within 30 days, per our Privacy Policy.
